It would be easy to find a leader that we know of and read
those 18 principles and find the strengths and weaknesses of that person. We are good at judging others…evaluating the
actions of others….or looking for ways that others can improve. We are not so good at doing that in the
mirror.
I have identified 3 principles that I am weakest in…I could
grow in a LOT more, but I felt 3 was a good start. I am hoping to begin focusing more closely on
these 3 areas. I want to improve so
being honest about where I could get better is important. If I am a basketball player that is amazing
with my right-handed layups, I better start practicing the left handed lay ups….we
have to face our challenges and weak areas to grow even though it would be WAY
easier to stay with what is comfortable.
I will not be formally asking anyone to share any of your
choices for yourself, but I do want to challenge everyone over the weekend to
find 3 areas that you can grow in as a leader.
That is a leader of kids, a leader on campus, or a leader in your
community/family. Be honest with
yourself, and set goals that are achievable….like a book/seminar over the
summer….increased focus daily….or some other method that will help!
